A nationally recognised VET qualification obtained through RPL is issued under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and may be presented to an Australian university as the basis for advanced standing or credit toward a bachelor's or master's degree. Under the AQF, a Diploma (Level 5) may provide up to approximately 33% credit toward a relevant bachelor's degree, and an Advanced Diploma (Level 6) may provide up to approximately 50%. A Graduate Diploma (Level 8) may support up to 50% credit toward a relevant master's degree or MBA.
This means that for eligible professionals, RPL is not just about formal recognition of existing skills — it can also be the first step in a longer academic journey.
