RPL vs Full Course: Cost, Time & Outcomes
Compare RPL against full course training — real costs, timelines, and career outcomes for 2026.
Read Guide →Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a formal assessment process that evaluates your existing skills, knowledge, and work experience. Instead of attending traditional classroom courses, RPL allows you to gain nationally recognised qualifications by demonstrating your competency against qualification standards through evidence assessed by an accredited Registered Training Organisation (RTO).
We begin by discussing your goals and confirming important details, including your preferred qualification, whether you are currently in Australia, and your visa status if applicable.
We will send you an email outlining the RPL process, together with a checklist of the documents required for your initial assessment.
Reply to our email with your supporting documents attached. For trade qualifications, photos or a portfolio may also be required as part of your evidence.
We will complete an initial assessment to confirm that you have submitted the necessary documents and that you are suitable to proceed. Payment must also be secured before your documents are submitted to our partner RTOs for formal assessment.
The partner RTO assessor will review your documents, verify your employer reference, and may request additional evidence if required. This stage usually takes around 6 to 8 weeks, with a fast-track option available in approximately 4 to 5 weeks.
Depending on your submitted evidence, the RTO may also arrange a phone call or online interview to discuss your skills and experience. You may be asked to complete an RPL Kit, with support from Right Pathway throughout the process.
Once your certificate is prepared, it will be sent to you by email in PDF format. Please note that any outstanding payments, if applicable, must be settled before the qualification can be delivered.
